Inventor Biographies - work in progress!

We have been learning about inventors and inventions. In writing we chose to focus on how to write a biography, first we had to all learn what one was. We have read biographies and taken notes from ones written about a famous inventor. Next we used those notes to construct our own biography about our chosen inventor. We have focused on how to structure a biography in time order of the inventor's life and the use of paragraphs to link our facts. We have edited, partner edited and had a conference with the teacher. Lastly we are publishing our biographies onto a class slide so we can print it and have our own published book about famous inventors. This is a work in progress, I have added the slide now so you can keep an eye on how our class can work together using our devices to create a collaborative piece of work.

Joshua's Poem

If I were in charge of the world
I’d cancel extinct,
pollution and also
global warming.
If I were in charge of the world
There’d be recyclable rubbish,
Edible plastic, and
Non poisonous chemicals and poison.

If I were in charge of the world
You wouldn’t have pests.
You wouldn’t have waste.
You wouldn’t have gill nets.
Or “don”t litter“.
You wouldn’t even have litter.

If I were in charge of the world
A tomato would be a vegetable
All buildings would be treehouses in forests
And a person who sometimes forgot to read
And sometime forget to water the seeds
Would still be allowed to be

In charge of the world.

Stephanie's Poem

If I were in Charge of the World

If I were in charge of the world
I’d cancel testing on all animals,
Death by mosquitos,
Bragging, and also
No fishing near dolphins.

If I were in charge of the world
There’d be no bullying,
Broccoli, and
Dessert before dinner.

If i were in charge of the world
You wouldn't have homework,
You wouldn't have any homeless,
You wouldn't have bossy big sisters,
Or always busy parents.
You wouldn't even have to have jobs!

If I were in charge of the world,
A buttery scone would be healthy,
All good dreams would come true,
And a person who sometimes forgot to say please,
And sometimes bangs into trees,
Would still be allowed to be in charge of the world.

Thomas' Poem

If I were in charge of the world
I’d cancel cyber bullying,
Bad friends,
Chainsaws, and also big fishing nets.

If I were in charge of the world
There’d be free plant seeds at Bunnings,
Healthier dolphins, and
Trees that regrow after 3 days.

If I were in charge of the world
You wouldn’t have litter,
You wouldn’t have nuclear waste,
You wouldn’t have people cutting down Trees,
Or factories next to water.

If I were in charge of the world,
Every Tree cut down would have to be replanted.
All plastic bottles would have to be reused until they are worn out or broken.
And a person that forgot to reuse or repair,
Would still be in charge of the world.

New Zealand Post

We wrote letters to a student in room 6, addressed envelopes and now they are in the post.  Next week we should all get some mail!  Yay!  We are replying to the letters by email, old vs new!
