Editing Glasses

We use editing glasses to help us see how to edit and re-work our written language.  These glasses give us editing super powers!

Filming Using Our Blue Screen

Making a news report for Shavaun's Passion Project.  We have intro music and plenty of actors wanting to be involved.  We are using the Do ink app on the class ipad.

Our Passion Projects are Due Tomorrow

Room 7’s Passion Projects
What is a passion?
Something you really love to do or just love
A hobby, one of your favourite things
You enjoy it
You don’t get sick of it
Your way of life
You can do it for a living
Passionate like Spongebob
Do it without being told
Task to complete
The purpose of this task is for you to learn something new; something that you have always wanted to do.
Maybe you have wanted to learn how to play a guitar. Build a dog kennel, Cook a gourmet meal, complete a family tree or even learn to make a movie. There is absolutely no limit to what you want to learn as long as you are passionate about the subject area.
Through the completion of this task you will gain a new skills, knowledge and understanding about something that is important to you and your own ability to learn. But there is a catch – you have to learn this area well

  • You must select a task or skill in which they want to learn something new. (some examples my students have done in the past are dressmaking, making a video game, learning an instrument, cooking a 3 course meal for their family or building a cubby house.)
  • You need to research and complete the task within the time frame outlined.
  • You will need to keep an online diary of their learning journey outlining their successes and failures.
  • ·You then teach a family member or friend your task or skill to show them what you have learnt.

  •   Finally you must put together a presentation outlining your learning journey including videos, photos and feedback from family members or friends.
  • Due week 9 31/3/17

Joshua's Poem

If I were in charge of the world
I’d cancel extinct,
pollution and also
global warming.
If I were in charge of the world
There’d be recyclable rubbish,
Edible plastic, and
Non poisonous chemicals and poison.

If I were in charge of the world
You wouldn’t have pests.
You wouldn’t have waste.
You wouldn’t have gill nets.
Or “don”t litter“.
You wouldn’t even have litter.

If I were in charge of the world
A tomato would be a vegetable
All buildings would be treehouses in forests
And a person who sometimes forgot to read
And sometime forget to water the seeds
Would still be allowed to be

In charge of the world.

Stephanie's Poem

If I were in Charge of the World

If I were in charge of the world
I’d cancel testing on all animals,
Death by mosquitos,
Bragging, and also
No fishing near dolphins.

If I were in charge of the world
There’d be no bullying,
Broccoli, and
Dessert before dinner.

If i were in charge of the world
You wouldn't have homework,
You wouldn't have any homeless,
You wouldn't have bossy big sisters,
Or always busy parents.
You wouldn't even have to have jobs!

If I were in charge of the world,
A buttery scone would be healthy,
All good dreams would come true,
And a person who sometimes forgot to say please,
And sometimes bangs into trees,
Would still be allowed to be in charge of the world.

Thomas' Poem

If I were in charge of the world
I’d cancel cyber bullying,
Bad friends,
Chainsaws, and also big fishing nets.

If I were in charge of the world
There’d be free plant seeds at Bunnings,
Healthier dolphins, and
Trees that regrow after 3 days.

If I were in charge of the world
You wouldn’t have litter,
You wouldn’t have nuclear waste,
You wouldn’t have people cutting down Trees,
Or factories next to water.

If I were in charge of the world,
Every Tree cut down would have to be replanted.
All plastic bottles would have to be reused until they are worn out or broken.
And a person that forgot to reuse or repair,
Would still be in charge of the world.

Cathy's Poetry

If I Were in Charge of the World

If I were in charge of the world
I’d cancel trawling fishing,
Dolphin and whale hunting,
Wars and crisis,
Violence and also

If I were in charge of the world
There would be no more than 5 plastic bags to one person,
No abuse of any sort, and
The rights for men and women in all countries to go to school, be fed, have shelter, clean air, freedom and have control of their life.

If I were in charge of the world
There would be no hunger,
No sadness,
No loneliness,
No forced choices,
No anger,
No distress and also
No sickness.

If I were in charge of the world
All diseases would have a cure,
There would only be one factory every thousand cubic meters,
Marine life would have one-half of the ocean where humans were not to touch,
Animals would have one-half of the land humans were not to touch and
Everything would have a way to be recycled or reused.

Buddy Time with Room 24

We made fortune tellers with 'build ups' inside, great team work.

Shavaun's Teach the Teacher

Shavaun organised a smoothie challenge, all the children were organised into groups and were given a number.  The number was for a matching ingredient.  She mixed them together and I had to guess what was in each smoothie.  Shavaun's organisation and attention to detail was excellent!

Thomas thought "it was a genius idea making the teacher drink the smoothie"

Patrick's Teach the Teacher

Patrick made a youtube clip teaching us how to make an origami nuke, we all got to make one!  Patrick made sure we were all listening before he spoke and walked around making sure the class knew how to fold each step.  Bailey thought "the video was very good as you could see a close up of his fingers, it made the steps easy to see"

Shreyas got his letter in the post!

On Friday I got a letter from Oliver Barlow. When I saw it, I think I had a heart attack, not from excitement, but from curiosity. When I opened the paper and read it, I found out he is very good at swimming. (He came 2nd in a swimming competition) I also found out he plays soccer! He said he might do rugby (Might usually means never, from my experience)

His letter was quite short… RIP curiosity

Cathy's Published Camp Writing

The Flying Fox

Could I do it? I asked myself, as I stood there, watching everyone else slowly drift across the multi-coloured lake, banging on a green cushion that looked as hard as stone. As I clipped the heavy metal gear on myself in fear I slowly went up the wooden stairs.

It was even higher than I had imagined. I only just stepped off the platform an inch but my weight brought me down. I hid my face in my hands. But as I slowly opened my eyes, I saw beauty. The lake was glittering under the bright, hot sun. I was free! Almost airborne! The loud sound of the thick, metal wire didn’t even matter at all!

Suddenly, I saw the large, green cushion moving closer and closer. I braced myself for impact. I closed my eyes. I felt something. Something soft and gentle. I opened my eyes. No way! That was the cushion! I marched up the hill, proud of myself. Surely I can do it again, I thought.

New Zealand Post

We wrote letters to a student in room 6, addressed envelopes and now they are in the post.  Next week we should all get some mail!  Yay!  We are replying to the letters by email, old vs new!
